Gol Gol Riverfront

Gol Gol Riverfront

Wentworth Shire Council was successful in acquiring funds for this project through the NSW State Government program 'Resources for Regions Round 8'. The Resources for Regions program aims to support the ongoing prosperity of mining communities in regional NSW by providing economic opportunities, improved amenities and positive social outcomes.

The aim of this project was to stabilise the bank west of the Gol Gol boat ramp, to replace stairs and retaining walls that were beginning to fail and create another footpath leading to the riverfront.

In June 2024 the stabilised work on the Gol Gol riverfront to the west of the Gol Gol boat ramp was complete. Construction then began for 60m of new path from the boat ramp leading west and connecting to an existing path adjacent to the Sturt Highway. Council also brought in additional sand into the beach area and built an improved staircase to access the beach front. This area was completed at the end of June 2024.
