Background

Wentworth Shire Council has now implemented three EV Station in the Shire Area; this is due to community demands and increase of tourist to the area with EV vehicles being used more. In 2025 there have been 74646 vehicles sold throughout Australia, and now more than 300,000 EVs vehicles on Australian roads, Wentworth Council has now installed EV (electric vehicle) charging stations for environmental, and economic reasons. Installing EV station in the Shire will encourage more people to consider switching to electric vehicles, access to reliable charging infrastructure is critical.

Wentworth Shire applied for funding through NSW EV Destination Charging Grants - Round 2, in which Council was successful in receiving funding to install three EV charging station in the Shire Area, these EV stations are located Buronga Midway Centre, Wentworth Civic Centre Carpark & Willow Bend Caravan Park. The sites are registered on the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW). This web site is an online database that lists and promotes tourism businesses or events operating in Australia that provide a direct service or experience to tourist.

Wentworth Council is committed to improving the Shire's environmental sustainability and transport connectivity, installing EV station including convenient access to charging infrastructure, plays a significant role in meeting this commitment.
