Background
Wentworth Shire Council was successfully in obtaining funding through NSW Government Resources for Regions program round 8.
The Resource for Region program has been running since 2012, providing support to communities across regional NSW impacted by mining.
Round 8 of the grant programs supports the ongoing prosperity of mining communities in regional NSW by providing economic opportunities, improved amenity and positive social outcomes.
One such project was identified through community conversations was the installation of a new toilet block at the Buronga Riverfront adjacent to Chaffey Bridge.
This project has seen the installation of a new toilet block to service the Buronga Riverfront which includes a Nature Play area, “Junior” pump track and the newly constructed “Advanced” pump track.
The toilet block consists of a women’s, men’s toilets and a unisex ambulant toilet.
Due to the location of the toilet block, additional electrical mains, water mains and sewer mains had to be installed.
The sewer mains includes a pumping station that pumps the toilet waste to another pump station further pumping to ultimate be disposed at the Buronga wastewater treatment plant over 5 kilometres away.
