Background
The Resource for Region program has been running since 2012, providing support to communities across regional NSW impacted by mining. Round 9 of this grant program supported communities in regional areas with infrastructure and community projects to support economic and social prosperity. Council was successful in obtaining funding through this grant program and has been facilitating ten projects which have been implemented.
One of these projects was to develop Buronga Pump Track Stage 2, this part of the project has seen the establishment of a sealed car park area.
Works commenced on stage 1 in November 2021, with the construction of a new sealed Pump Track at the Buronga Riverfront, west of the George Chaffey Bridge near the Discovery Caravan Park. The track is around 150m in length and has created a family friendly environment for the community to enjoy, whilst challenging their varying levels of skill through rollers and berms.
The funding for stage 1 was under the Local Roads & Community Infrastructure Program. Stage 2 of this project has constructed a sealed road and carpark to the pump track.
The pump track is available to all members of the community. The sealing of the carpark will ensure that it is accessible in all weather conditions to people of varying mobilities.
