The Arumpo Road Reconstruction and Upgrade Project delivered a 24.52km upgrade of Arumpo Road between June 2024 and May 2025. The $6.25 million project was jointly funded by Wentworth Shire Council and the Australian Government through the Remote Roads Upgrade Pilot Program.
Works focused on improving road safety, durability, and all-weather accessibility, particularly for local communities, freight operators, and visitors travelling towards Mungo National Park. The upgrade supports improved regional connectivity and long-term transport resilience.
Scope of works included:
- Survey and detailed design
- Earthworks to reinstate road formation and improve drainage
- Placement of a 150mm sub-base and 150mm basecourse
- Two-coat bitumen seal
- Linemarking, guideposts, and installation of regulatory signage
